Combined Effects of Blood Pressure and Aldosterone on Cardiac Left Ventricular Mass Index—Ethnic Differences between Kazakh, Uygur and Han Subjects

چکیده
Previous Background: Hemodynamic factors, like blood pressure, have been established to be major determinants of cardiac left ventricular structure. However, several factors other than blood pressure to influence cardiac mass have been implicated. When we did medical survey, cardiac left ventricular mass index (LVMI) of one ethnic group that had higher blood pressure was found to be smaller than that of the other ethnic groups with a lower blood pressure. Such contradicted data from the present study were analyzed combining blood pressure, LVMI and chemical parameters obtained from blood and urine. Methods: In a medical survey conducted in Xinjiang, China, 279 people (65 70 years old) from three ethnic groups (Kazakh, Uygur and Han) from two separated regions provided blood and urine samples and underwent echocardiography and 24-h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM). Results: Systolic and diastolic blood pressure obtained from ABPM and urinary sodium excretion values were significantly higher in Kazakh than that in Uygur and Han. However, LVMI in Kazakh was lower than that in other 2 groups. Plasma aldosterone concentration (PAC) and plasma renin activity (PRA) were significantly lowest in Kazakh. The values of LVMI in all ethnic groups were positively related to both blood pressure and PAC. An in-

Associations of plasma atrial natriuretic peptide and electrolyte levels with essential hypertension
This study aimed to investigate the associations among the levels of plasma atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) and electrolytes and essential hypertension (EH) in Uygur, Han and Kazakh populations in Xinjiang. A total of 724 hypertensive participants of different ethnicities from Xinjiang (208 Uygur, 287 Han and 229 Kazakh) and 741 normal controls (208 Uygur, 267 Han and 266 Kazakh) were enrolled...
متن کاملEthnic disparities in the clustering of risk factors for cardiovascular disease among the Kazakh, Uygur, Mongolian and Han populations of Xinjiang: a cross-sectional study
BACKGROUND Chinese Uygur, Kazakh, Mongolian and Han populations represent >90% of the total population of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and their genetic backgrounds, customs, culture, and food consumption are different. The effect of ethnic differences on cardiovascular disease risk factors (CRFs; hypertension, obesity, diabetes, dyslipidemia, smoking) can be striking but is rarely studied...
متن کاملComparison of Cardiac Function in Young Patients with Thalassemia Intermedia and Healthy Individuals Using Echocardiography Method
Background: Cardiac dysfunction due to chronic anemia and hemosiderosis are the major causes of death among patients with thalassemia intermedia. This study was performed to compare the cardiac function in thalassemia intermedia patients with normal subjects by means of echocardiography. Materials and Methods: This was a case-control study performed on 22 patients affected by thalassemia int...
متن کاملS323I polymorphism of the C5L2 gene was not identified in a Chinese population with familial combined hyperlipidemia or with type 2 diabetes.
C5L2, a G protein-coupled receptor, is known to be a functional receptor of acylation-stimulating protein, which is a stimulator of triglyceride synthesis and glucose transport. A novel C5L2 variant (S323I) was identified and its association with familial combined hyperlipidemia (FCH) was recently reported. We looked for this SNP in three Chinese ethnic groups, including Han, Uygur, and K...
متن کاملRelationship between EPHX2 gene polymorphisms and essential hypertension in Uygur, Kazakh, and Han.
We investigated the association between rs751141 polymorphisms in the EPHX2 gene and essential hypertension in Uygur, Kazakh, and Han subjects in Xinjiang, China. A total of 302 essential hypertensive patients in Uygur, 267 in Kazakh, and 368 in Han, as well as 323 normotensive controls in Uygur, 284 in Kazakh, and 348 in Han were enrolled in this study. The TaqMan assay was used to detect the ...
